SUMMER EMPLOYMENT 2020

 

This year we are planning to employ local youth ages 16 - 30* in a variety of different roles this season through funding received from Canada Summer Jobs. 

 

Emerging Artist Team (Audition Required)

  • Emerging Artist Performers  (self-accompanied vocalists, instrumentalists and backline performers)

  • Program Coordinators

  • Assistant Program Coordinators

 

Content Creation Team

  • Content creators - including photo, video, audio production, social media, marketing, animation editing and more

  • Content Creation Program Coordinator

Administrative & Technical Support Team

  • Assistant Director of Human Resources

  • Administrative Team Members

  • Information Technology Coordinator

  • IT Team Members

  • Production Coordinator

* job titles are subject to change based on Canada Summer Jobs NOC code requirements

AUDITIONS

There is no fee to audition, and you do not need to be a member to audition. 

The 2020 Audition Tour is planned for Feb 15 - 23rd 2020 in a variety of locations across Simcoe County. Additionally, we will be in Orangeville on March 11th.  Check back here for location updates as they are confirmed.  Returning Emerging Artists (post-secondary only) are invited to attend Callbacks directly without a Round 1 Local Audition.

Callbacks will be taking place using online video technology.  Please check your email for up to date information regarding this.

CALLBACKS

Callbacks weekend remains scheduled for Saturday, March 28th and Sunday, March 29th, 2020 in Barrie, ON.   If you advance to Callbacks, you will be able to choose one of these two dates to continue in the process.  It is recommended that you put this time aside now to avoid disappointment.   There is no "alternative time" for callbacks to be scheduled for a private audition.

2020 Callbacks includes:  (under review)

  • Live performance audition  to be conducted through ONLINE VIDEO. 

  • Q & A with the jurors through online video.

  • Submission of a video of yourself performing a prescribed piece.

Delayed in 2020 due to COVID-19 Pandemic.

  • Video interview  (deferred to a later date)

  • Professional Headshots  ( deferred to a later date)

MANDATORY INFORMATION SESSION

Info session is scheduled for Sunday April 26th, 2020, 11am - 2pm.   Lunch provided.

This session will cover expectations for the summer program including mandatory dates and schedules  Under 18, a parent must attend with you, 18+ years, your parent may attend if you desire.

MASS SIGNING DATE: (Updated Feb 06, 2020)

Mass contract and paperwork signing will take place on May 9th and 10th, 2020, pending funding announcements.

**Due to the timelines of the application process, and the date of funding announcements in relation to the beginning of the summer performance season, we proceed to audition, call back and interview potential candidates, and rank candidates for future hiring opportunities.   No offers of employment can be extended until we receive notification of our application status, typically around the end of April each year.   We can only fill positions that are funded through Canada Summer Jobs as there is no alternative source of revenue for these positions.  Thank you for your understanding.

* Candidates must be ages 16-30 on their first day of work to meet the criteria for funding for this program. No exceptions can be made. Thank you for your understanding.
